In China's wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) industry, machine tools are conventionally categorized as high-speed, medium-speed (Kingred WEDM as examples), or low-speed based on cutting rates. This often causes confusion among international clients.

What's really confusing is the difference between high-speed and medium-speed WEDM machines. A medium-speed machine costs the same as 2 to 7 high-speed machines. From this perspective, with this huge price advantage, high-speed EDM machines can maintain strong market preference while adapting to market demands, for example, by integrating multi-pass cutting control and more automatic devices into the system. That's why it becomes more confusing these days.
